Michelle Maller, Oregon State University

Michelle Maller is an education and internship coordinator with the Wood Science and Engineering department at Oregon State University. She has a background in curriculum assessment in higher education and has spent the last 2 years working with undergraduates to connect them with job opportunities. In addition to working with students, Maller also works with Career Technical Education teachers in Oregon.

Session Description: How can you make you company attractive to students and young people?  Students coming out of college today have a different set of ideals than the generations before them. With this changing environment, companies need to build strategies and reconsider old standards to help entice young people to their team.

Session Description: Recruiting Staff in Challenging Times

With low unemployment rates, recruiting for hourly and salaried positions has never been more challenging.  Claudia will present an overview of the current state of the labor market, along with some top tips for how to recruit in these challenging times.  She will present some effective strategies for reaching potential candidates, screening them and hiring them, along with some thoughts on employee engagement and retention.
