Bill Anderson, President & COO, J.M. Thomas Forest Products

Bill Anderson is the President & COO of J.M. Thomas Forest Products. J.M. Thomas has distribution centers in Denver, CO, Ogden, UT, and Boise, ID.  Bill has been in the building material business for 42 years 26 of which have been with J.M. Thomas and has been President & COO since 1998. Bill has seen the industry consolidation at all levels of the supply chain and J.M. Thomas has achieved growth though all those changes. J.M. Thomas has remained a privately held company since it’s founding by J. Matthew Thomas in 1981. Bill has served on the NAWLA board twice, chaired the Traders Market committee, served on the education committee, and was the lead organizer of establishing the NAWLA 10 Groups.

He was raised in Colorado and attended the University of Northern Colorado.


George Emmerson, President, Sierra Pacific Industries

George Emmerson is President of Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) and is a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. SPI, headquartered near Redding, California, is the largest lumber manufacturer in both California and Washington state, as well as the fourth largest U.S. lumber producer. 

George is a graduate of Oregon State University. He has been with Sierra Pacific Industries since 1978 and has extensive experience in millwork and lumber manufacturing, sales and marketing, electrical generation and forestry. He previously ran SPI’s millwork facilities and managed one of the company’s sawmill/co-generation complexes for several years.

As the current Chairman of the Softwood Lumber Board, George brings leadership experience from his work with organizations that support and promote the forest products industry and business sector, including:

  • Past Chairman and Board Member, American Wood Council (AWC)
  • Board Member of Western Wood Products Association (WWPA)
  • Past Commissioner, Blue Ribbon Commission for Lumber Check-off
  • Past Chairman and Board Member of Vigilant

He and his wife Susan reside in Redding where they raised four boys. Three of their children hold various positions within SPI. George and Susan enjoy most outdoor activities including cycling, snow skiing and just enjoying nature.

Tyler Freres, Vice President of Sales, Freres Lumber Co., Inc.

Tyler Freres is the Vice President of Sales for Freres Lumber Co., Inc. He has worked directly in plywood manufacturing since 1999. In his veneer sales position, he is responsible for selling and sourcing all veneer for Freres veneer and plywood operations. As an executive team member, he takes an active role in determining the long-term direction of the company.

He began his career in the timber industry during his high school years when held his first job cleaning grease out of logging equipment. After high school, Tyler attended Southern Methodist University (SMU), in Dallas, Texas, where he earned a B.A. in English Literature and a B.B.A. in Business Administration with Finance minor.

Throughout his college career, Tyler returned to Oregon each summer to work in every available timber industry job: millwright, dryer feeder, barker operator, green chain, core layer, log scaling and road crew.

After graduation from SMU, Tyler attended Oregon State University College of Forestry. He and his wife Deana then spent a couple of years in France.

LT Gibson, President & CEO, U.S. LBM

L.T. Gibson has been president and chief executive officer of U.S. LBM, a leading distributor of specialty building materials in the United States, since he founded the company in 2009. Offering a comprehensive portfolio of specialty products, including windows, doors, millwork, wallboard, roofing, siding, engineered components and cabinetry, U.S. LBM combines the scale and operational advantages of a national platform with a local go-to-market strategy through its national network of locations across the country.


Matt Graves, Senior Vice President, Fastmarkets RISI

Matt Graves leads the Fastmarkets RISI price reporting businesses, including market reporting and price assessments for Random Lengths, RISI, and FOEX. Matt has worked for 20 years at RISI with a focus on the global forest products industry. He works directly with clients globally and travels extensively in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. In 2018, Matt re-located from Europe to Eugene, Oregon to oversee the successful integration of Random Lengths into the Fastmarkets RISI business.

Craig Johnston, CEO, Forest City Trading Group

Craig Johnston is the President and CEO of Forest City Trading Group, LLC, one of the largest wholesale distributors of building products in North America. Forest City has also been recognized for many years as the largest private company in Oregon. Mr. Johnston has been with the company his entire professional career, beginning as a lumber trader in the organization after his graduation in 1981 from the University of Oregon School of Business. In 1998, Craig became President of American International Forest Products. In 2004, he helped lead Forest City Trading Group’s Employee buyout as they took the company private.

Craig is currently a Director on the Board of Mosaic Capital Partners, a private investment firm in Charlotte, NC. He has also served on the Boards of charitable organizations in the Portland Community supporting youth development, fish and wildlife conservation and arts advocacy.

Mr. Johnston is married and has two adult sons.  His favorite pastimes are skiing, fly fishing, hiking and enjoying time with his family.  


Gerard (Gerry) McCaughey, CEO & Chairman, Entekra Inc.

Gerard “Gerry” McCaughey is internationally respected as an authority in the field of off-site construction. Named “Industry Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst and Young, McCaughey was a driving force behind Europe’s transition to off-site construction of wood frame homes with modern methods of construction. Today he is continuing his disruptive ways as CEO and Chairman of California start-up Entekra, which is changing how homes are built in the United States with its Fully Integrated Off-Site Solution™ – FIOSS™.

In 1990, McCaughey co-founded Century Homes in Ireland, and as Chief Executive Officer, he grew the company from a start-up operation with four employees into Europe’s largest unit producer of off-site built structures. In 2005, when Century was acquired by building materials giant Kingspan Group for $100 million and McCaughey was subsequently named CEO of Kingspan Century, the company had 650 employees, operating five manufacturing facilities and producing 8,000 units annually for markets in Europe and Asia. Under his leadership, Century was responsible for numerous industry-first innovations, including one of the world’s first zero net energy homes and the world’s first off-site built wood-framed six-story structure.

In co-founding Entekra in late 2016 and assembling a management team with unmatched experience in off-site construction, McCaughey has set out to replicate in the United States the success he had building the off-site industry in Europe.

Doug Reed, Vice President of CA Operations, California Redwood Co.

Douglas Reed is the President of Green Diamond Resource Company. Mr. Reed joined Green Diamond in February 2012 and served as the Senior Vice President, California Operations, until his promotion to President on January 1, 2014. Prior to joining Green Diamond, Mr. Reed was Vice President and General Manager of Simpson Lumber Company. Mr. Reed previously worked as General Manager of Simpson’s Southeast Lumber operations in Savannah, Georgia, and for Simpson Door Company as Strategic Planning Manager in McCleary, Washington.

Before joining Simpson, Mr. Reed worked as a management consultant for the strategic advisory firm McKinsey and Company.  Mr. Reed holds a bachelor’s degree in History from Princeton, 1998, and an MBA from Stanford, 2004.

Craig Webb, President, Webb Analytics LLC

Craig Webb is president of Webb Analytics and one of the nation’s leading experts on building material dealers and distributors. He spent 12 years as editor-in-chief of ProSales, the nation’s most honored publication for building material dealers, as well as five years as editor-in-chief of Remodeling magazine.

Webb Analytics builds and expands on Craig’s lifelong career in the news and information businesses. He has worked for The Wall Street Journal, McGraw-Hill, United Press International and a variety of magazines, newsletters and newspapers in the U.S. and Europe. He has traveled to 49 states and several foreign countries visiting dealers, builders and remodelers. That legwork is the foundation of the research, data reports, speeches, and consulting that Webb Analytics has provided since its founding in September 2018.

Webb was born just outside Washington, D.C., grew up in South Bend, Ind., and received his bachelor’s degree in journalism and history from Indiana University in 1976. He lives in Washington.
