Forever Forest is a national traveling exhibit that explores how we use the forest to live, work, and play in harmony. Exploring the realities of forests through play, families will learn about sustainability, selective harvesting, transportation needs, and the every-day products we use made from trees.
Forever Forest features 10 interactive exhibit components that highlight the science, tools, careers, products, transportation, and processes that drive the forestry industry. From the kid-sized grapple skidders and Union Pacific train to the tree climber and partially assembled house. Forever Forest educates children and families how the forest and industry behind it affects our daily lives.
Through the partnership and support of NAWLA, Union Pacific Railroad and other organizations in the forest products industry, Omaha Children's Museum debuted the family-oriented national touring exhibit in October 2017.
Over the next seven years, Forever Forest will travel to more than 20 organizations across North America, reaching nearly two million visitors.
Through September 2, 2019, 422,936 people had toured the exhibit. Current or upcoming exhibits include:
- January 31 - June 19, 2020: Washington Pavilion, Sioux Falls, SD
- August 7 - September 20, 2020: Indiana State Fair, Indianapolis, IN
- October 3, 2020 - February 7, 2021: Reading Public Museum, Reading, PA
